Brian Brake - The color of China

Brian Brake was one of the first American photographers, belonging to the Magnum agency, to visit and document the China of the 1950. Plain colours and charming black and white, places and situations of the China during its most difficult period, the People’s Republic. On his pictures, Brake portrays also the political life of that time, with Mao and the military parade. Some of Brake’s images have that deep blue, typical of the Chinese tradition, from that Uniqueness takes inspiration.
